Plastic comes from the Greek “plastikos” word meaning “shaping” and it is the common name for several artificial materials which can be easily shaped by casting, rolling or any other technique. The organic material, which becomes hardened after being processed and shaped as polymer based liquid, is produced from natural resources such as coal and cellulose and the most important plastic raw material resource is petroleum.
Monomers with small molecules are combined and polymerized with chemical methods and polymers with bigger molecules are obtained as a result of this process. Plastic materials suitable for the requested purposes are obtained by adding several additives to the polymers. The easy workability, color, brightness and better compatibility to climatic conditions compared to metal have provided the opportunity to use plastic in many areas such as home, workplace etc. Various materials from phone body and receiver to kitchenware, flooring, bottle, furniture, industrial tools and many more are produced from plastic.
